Former CEO of EMTV, John Taylor, Dies Aged 76

Former Chief Executive Officer of EMTV, John Taylor, has died aged 76.

He passed away today at his home just outside of Canberra, Australia, after losing his battle with cancer.

Taylor was the second CEO of Media Niugini Limited, and the longest serving. He worked for a period of 10 years from 1988 to 1998.

He was also responsible for expanding EMTV’s signal in the country and was an influential figure in the advancement of television in PNG.

John’s son Stephen Taylor, a producer with Channel 9’s 60 Minutes, said his father had fond memories of PNG and spoke a lot about his time here, his love for the people, the country and described his time at EMTV as the best.

Having served under John Taylor, former News Director John Eggins praised Taylor for giving him total editorial control, thus being able to produce the popular Sunday Commentary on EMTV News.

Our deepest condolences go out to the Taylor family.
