The 5th PNG Games in Kokopo provided a perfect opportunity for the PNG Sport Anti-Doping Organization to conduct the first ever in-competition tests on athletes in PNG.
The sports tested were athletics, Para & able, basketball, boxing and powerlifting.
Testing on athletes was carried out in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code and the International Standard for Testing.
The PNG Sport Foundation funded the training and testing with a commitment of K50, 000 to assist PNGSADO in training of local persons and payment of the samples ‘analysis.
The training and the testing are part of PNGSADO’s doping control program and are viewed by PNGSADO as vital in their preparation for the 2015 Pacific Games.
