Electoral Laws Questioned

Lawsconcerning elections have come out on spot light again. This time by Mr Duban, questioning its power.

 

Mr Duban said it’s about timethPNG Electoral Commission must come out clear, and explainthese laws tothe public, to ensurethey gain momentum.

Mr Duban says lack of awareness bythPNG Electoral Commission, has resulted on many unanswered questions, on candidates contesting elections.

 

Duban saidthe electoral laws needs to be reviewed. There’s abuse of lLeadersip, affecting goods and service delivery, more election irregularities and poor parliament debate. Allthese need attention fromthPNG Electoral Commission andthe Constitutional Law Reform Commission.

 

He said Madang must becomethe model province oPNG, for a pilot project on electoral laws.

 

 

According toReturning Officer Adolph Duangha, he’s eligible, by birthright and residency if for over two years in that electorate, under Section 44 ofthe Electoral Laws2007 on ‘Qualification and Nomination’:

 

A copy ofthe FORM 23 and 29 ofthe National Elections, for Mr Harokaqveh was also sighted.

The nomination can only be dismissed bythe electoral commissioner.
