The first Sustainable Cultural Tourism conference held in Kokopo recently has been hailed as a great success.
The conference delivered in partnership by the PNG Tourism Promotion Authority and the Kokoda Initiative saw 50 participants from Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu and Solomon Islands share experiences and discuss the successes and challenges of cultural tourism in Melanesia.
The conference was designed to provide a forum that drew on the expertise of local tour operators, and tourism officers from provincial and national level government.
It also discussed and identified tools and actions to address some of the cultural tourism industries’ key challenges and opportunities.
