Withthe National Government putting emphasis on revitalizingthe agriculture sector in PNG the Central Provincial Administration has kicked off on a high note withthe launching of its smallholder expansion program.
The program started in year 2000; however, changes in provincial management displacedthe program.
Yesterday,the Central Province Governor, Kila Hoada, launched and opened a Smallholder Support Services Expansion Project office which will be fully institutionalized withinthe Central Provincial Administration.
Governor Hoada said agriculture is a priority area, andthe smallholder expansion project is a bonus for the central people.
The office will bethe prime location of driving Central’s agricultural sector throughthe Provincial Department of Agriculture and Livestock office.
Staff ofthe Agriculture and Livestock Department will be out in communities to roll-outthe project.
The project will target farming, poultry, cash crops and fishing, to begin with.
