The fight against cancer continues. The Port Moresby Cancer Relief Society yesterday launched its major fundraiser for the year called “The National No 1 tea’s Beggest Morning Tea.”
ANZ Bank hostedthe launch and madethe first donation of ten thousand kina. Carpenters Group of Companies isthe major sponsor for this month long event.
A small but high profile delegation of supporters turned up for the launch.
The delegation included Linda Bebao, wife of Prime Minister Peter O’Neill, ANZ CEO, Mark baker, EMTV CEO, Beanu Sud and thers.
Duringthe launch, Mr Beker said ANZ chose to host this event to encourage ther business houses to participate inthe fundraising which will last for a month.
President ofthe Port Moresby Cancer Relief Society, Dadi Toka Jnr, thanked National No. 1 Tea for beingthe major sponsor ofthe event and highlighted that cancer numbers were increasing every year and more needed to be done to address this.
He saidthe media played a vital role in disseminating information and called on more media outlets to join inthe fight against cancer.
The funds raised will be used to provide support for cancer patients atthe Port Moresby general hospital and for the purchase of essential medical equipment.
The public has been invited to hosttheir own Morning teas’ and asktheir guests to donate towardsthe ongoing work ofthe society.
