Australia Week Festivities

Australia Week has been shared in PNG over many years with the culture of music and art, bringing both Australia and PNG together.

In light of that, the Australian High Commission flew in musicians to share their talents and experience with local artists.

PNG’s very own Samantha Clarke, DJ AK47, along with international rapper, MC Phrase, and Soul singer Jade Macrae, had a fun-filled day with locals at Vabukori village in Port Moresby today.

All the performers teamed up and instantly connected with the Vabukori community with a song that was composed by R&B and Soul singer, Jade Macrae.

As a lead up to the Australia Week festivities, the four performers made their way to Vabukori village for a music workshop to reach out to young Papua New Guineans who may not otherwise have the chance.

They all shared their insights into the music industry, and encouraged the community to take up music and song writing to express their emotions and experiences.

International Rapper, MC Phrase who toured and performed with American rap kings like Snoop Dog, and Kanye West, said this was his first visit to PNG along fellow performer and wife, Jade Macrae.

The popular Moses Tau capped off the performances with a local hit that had the locals singing.
