Abbott To Visit Koki Market

Australian Prime Minister, Tony Abbott, will visit Koki market this Friday. Abbott will arrive in PNG tomorrow, to discuss diplomatic relations with Prime Minister Peter O’Neill.

Abbott will be the first Australia Prime Minister to visit Koki market to witness its current state, before the market undergoes reconstruction.

Moresby South MP and Sports, Pacific Games and National Events Minister, Justin Tkatchenko, announced the visit of Australian Prime Minister to Koki market yesterday, during the launching of the Moresby South Community Policing program.

Minister Tkatchenko said Mr Abbott’s visit to Koki market at this time is necessary, so he can see the current face of the market, and when he returns twelve months later, he will be able to see the new improved face of Koki market.

Minister Tkatchenko said the Government has allocated K8 million for the new Koki market.

He said the current market will be demolished, and reconstruction will commence in two weeks’ time.

He said the new market will be user-friendly, and will be a model market for the country.

He also announced that the current Koki Cop Shop will be rebuilt to a bigger station, with more police officers, to maintain law and order in the new look Koki market.
