InterOil achieves 100th shipment of crude oil from Kutubu

The has achieved anther significant milestone since beginning its operation in 2004.

Sunday, February 10, markedthe one hundredth shipment of crude oil from Kutubu, inthe Southern Highlands Province.

Acting General Manager Ramon Culia says this is history, inthe oil refinery sector.

The vessel MV Nectar arrived in Port Moresby on Sunday and bethed atthe Napanapa Refinery wharf.

It transported six hundred and fifty thousand barrels of crude oil from Kutubu.

Also recorded isthe five million working hours, as of January 2013.

Mr Culla (pronounced as Culia) saysInterOil has a zero record of accidents and oil spill. He said safety was paramount.

Refinery Planner Andy Castillo explained that from Kutubu, crude oil is piped down tothe Kumul Terminal in Gulf Province. It’sthen shipped to Port Moresby.

Crude oil isthen discharged throughthe pipeline tothe main tanks 701 and 702, monitored inthe control room. They’re redistributed again to ther smaller tanks, awaiting tests.

The products arethen distributed, in fuel service stations and also aviation industry.
