A Rugby League player has called for more support in the Off Season Rugby League Competition.
Mendi Muruks Full Back, Murphy Eddie, says there is a pool of talent that needs to be exposed.
He is one of the several rising stars that came through such competitions.
The Off Season Rugby League Competitions have been around for years.
The bulk of the players in the national side have come through this level of competition.
But not enough is done to support this part of Rugby League, resulting in its demise.
Those that are still active are either self-funded, yet they help aspiring Rugby League talent realize their dreams of representing the country in Team Kumuls in the future.
Murphy Eddie is one of those players who have come through the Off Season Rugby League, and is now playing for the Defence Rugby League Club.
Last year he made his debut for the Mendi Muruks in the Semiprofessional Digicel Cup Competition.
Prior to that, he was playing in Auckland, New Zealand, a sting that has given him much-needed exposure.
He says there is huge potential that needs to be developed.
And with the right attitude, commitment, and support, Rugby League players can be exported abroad.
Murphy remains optimistic about his future in Rugby League.
He returned to Mendi Muruks this year.
