Institute of Business Studies Certificate Graduation

More than 600 students graduated with Certificates in Accounting, Computing and Marketing from the Institute of Business Studies (IBS) in Port Moresby yesterday.

This is the first Certificate Course Graduation and amongst those who graduated was a mother and her son.

Established in 1989 as an Accounting Institute, its Primary aim was to provide revision classes for the then, Papua New Guinea Institute of Accountants, now known as Certified Practicing Accountants.

The graduands were challenged by Treasure for CPA John Wau, to develop an attitude for continuous learning, to be determined always and to produce consistent output when in the work force. He said, certificate is only the beginning and he encouraged them to further their studies.

Amongst those present was the Senior Manager for BSP Human Resource Division, Hari Rabura and Executive Dean for UPNG School of Business Administration Dr. Pillai.

From this 600 plus graduands, only 6 graduated with Certificate in Marketing.

The first Best Performance Awards for Certificate in Accounting, Computing and Marketing, were given to Wilma Donga, Judah Yaman and Singe Yanding respectively.

Apart from offering Certificate and Diploma programs, IBS is the first and only institute in PNG to offer, internationally recognized face-to-face Bachelor programs, because of its affiliation with Southern Cross University in Australia. The school is also affiliated to UPNG’s School of Business Administration.
