Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill, says he will tell the Police Commissioner to address the matter of Policemen assaulting an EMTV crew last week.
He said, while it’s understood that Police work in extremely tough conditions, they need to control their emotions.
After a launching of several projects in the Marawaka Station in the Eastern Highlands, Prime Minister Peter O’Neill was asked about his take on the EMTV crew that was assaulted by Police late last week, which has become Public interest.
Prime Minister O’Neill says he understands Police Officers work under tough conditions but the need to keep calm and deal with situations.
He made it known that he will call on the Police Commissioner to address the issue in order to give confidence back to the people.
Police hard stance reputation has been Public debate for many years.
The two member EMTV crew; a reporter Quinton Alomp and a cameraman were assaulted by Police in Port Moresby.
They were responding to a news team outside 15 mile.
They were punched; footages deleted and their notes were torn up.
This has received the attention of the Prime Minister.
