Another body was recovered yesterday afternoon at Djaul Island, one of the missing persons from the boat incident.
The East New Britain Provincial Disaster and Emergency Services office confirmed this information to this Newsroom.
Director of the Office of Disaster and Emergency Services, Donald Tokunai said a helicopter flew to the site to airlift the body, but due to fading light, it diverted to Kavieng to wait for the body’s arrival at the local morgue.
“This morning the body will be airlifted straight to Rabaul,” Director Tokunai said.
“As soon as the body arrives at Nonga, police will begin the formal identification process. The victim’s identity will be officially released once confirmation is complete.”
