Juha PDL Demanding State to Complete Outstanding Clan Vetting

Landowners from Juha Petroleum Development License 9 area are demanding the state to complete outstanding clan vetting.

Landowners, specifically from blocks 16-39and 15-65, are now taking this matter to court.

They have joined an earlier call by Moran PDL 2 and PDL 5 landowners for the Department of Petroleum and Energy to complete the process.

With the commissioning of the first LNG shipment just months away, landowners are still waiting for the outstanding clan vetting exercise.

These landowners from the Mt. Ukara block 16-39 and Mt. Limbia block 15-65 of Juha PDL 9 want answers from the Department of Petroleum and Energy, as to why the process is still outstanding.

They say the state has failed to honor the UBSA and LBSA Kokopo agreements.

The official clan vetting was scheduled for December last year, however due to reasons unknown, the vetting was suspended.

With the appointment of Nixon Duban as the new Petroleum and Energy minister, the landowners are confident there will be some progress.

This is the second group of landowners who have approached EMTV, regarding the same issue following the Moran PDL 2 and 5 of Kutubu recently.

The Juha PDL 9 landowners say numerous attempts for answers have failed, and the next course of action will be to file legal proceedings.
