The investigations into the clash between members of the PNG Defence Force, and the Royal PNG Constabulary, have commenced.
A task force team, involving senior officers from both the RPNGC and the PNGDF, has been set up to investigate the standoff.
The standoff is a result of drunken officers using abusive language in the vicinity of Boroko, in Port Moresby last night.
In a joint media conference this afternoon, deputy police commissioner Jim Andrews confirmed that drunk members of the PNG Defence Force were brought to the Boroko Police Station last night by police officers patrolling the Boroko area.
He said when the soldiers were taken to the station an argument broken out at the station which eventuated into a bigger fight.
PNGDF Acting Chief of Staff Col. Oala Vagi was not able to confirm the exact number of soldiers injured in the fight, but EMTV News understands that at least one solider was seriously injured in the clash.
It was also confirmed the injured soldiers are from the batch that recently passed out.
Investigations have commenced, but information is sketchy at the moment and both col. Vagi and Commissioner Andrews said once the full report is compiled, all officers and soldiers involved, will be charged with disciplinary and criminal charges.
Warnings were issued to the general public NOT to take advantage of the standoff and destroy business houses and other private property.
