BULOLO DDA ROLLS OUT SOLAR LIGHTS AND ROOFING IRON FOR HOUSEHOLDS

By BRADLEY MARIORI

Households from Wards one to eight in Bulolo Urban LLG will soon have solar lighting and roofing iron, as the Bulolo District Development Authority moves to ensure every home in the district has proper shelter and access to light.

The initiative, which began under the leadership of the late Sam Basil, is now being carried forward by his son and current MP, Sam Basil Jr.

The program aims to provide roofing materials and solar lighting kits to all households across Bulolo District.

Speaking during a recent ceremony in Bulolo Town, Sam Basil Jr said his priority is to make sure his people have decent homes before other development projects begin.

“My father started this vision, and we are continuing it. I want to make sure every family in Bulolo is living under a proper roof and has light at night before we move on to other businesses,” Basil said.

Basil Jr said wards 1 to 8 in Bulolo Urban LLG have already started receiving their roofing iron allocations. The MP urged recipients not to sell the materials, but to use them to build or improve their homes with support from the DDA.

“These materials are for your homes. Don’t sell them. Use them, build your house, and help yourselves. The DDA is here to support you,” he told the gathering.

Some wards have already received both roofing iron and solar lighting kits, with distribution set to continue in the coming weeks.

The same support is also being extended to other wards under the district’s three LLGs — Watut, Mumeng and Bulolo.

He said the rollout will be done in phases to ensure all communities’ benefit.

The program is part of the Bulolo DDA’s long-term plan to improve living standards and increase access to basic services.
