ENROLMENT UPDATE USING PHOTO ROLL EXERCISE IN NEW MOTU-KOITA ELECTORATE

The PNG Electoral Commission through the National Capital District Electoral Office, is progressing well with its enrolment update in the new Motu-Koita electorate.

This is to ensure Motu Koita voters are eligible to cast their votes in the 2027 National General Elections.

This started on Wednesday June 24 at Vabukori village and went on to Pari on Sunday June 28.

It continued to other parts of Motu Koita East on Saturday July 11 for four days that covered Taurama-Taota and Taurama-Pari (Taurama Bay).

The updates also used Biometric Data collection where Dame Carol Kidu and Professor Isi Kevau’s mug shots and fingerprints were recorded.

It is understood a full biometric voting system would be properly prepared to be used in the 2032, National General Elections, if all preparations and current work progress well.

The enrollment team also successfully enrolled Lady Skate, wife of former Prime Minister late Bill Scate at her residence.

Voters of the newly declared Motu-Koita electorate would be verified using a photo roll registry when they go to polls in 2027.

The program aims to build an accurate and trusted electoral photo-roll for Motu-Koita.

The 14 wards of the new Motu-Koita electorate are Korobosea, Mahuru, Kirakira, Vabukori, Pari-Taota, Pari-Taurama (MK East), Baruni, Tatana, Araira, Elevala-Mirigini, Elevala-Lahara, Elevala-Laurabada and Poreporena-Laurabada (MK West).

The photo-roll enrollment program will also be conducted for voters in other NCD electorates of Moresby-South, Moresby North-West and Moresby North-East.
