NCDPHA CONDUCT TRAINING WORKSHOPS AHEAD OF HPV VACCINE ROLLOUT

By Abagain Mara

The National Capital District Provincial Health Authority (NCDPHA) has begun a series of training workshops for healthcare workers in preparation for the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination rollout in November.

The workshops, conducted in partnership with the National Department of Health, World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF and participating health facilities, aim to prepare healthcare workers to effectively deliver the vaccination program across NCD.

Clinic managers and healthcare workers from NCDPHA-managed facilities and four private clinics are participating in the training.

The workshops focus on vaccine administration, community awareness and planning to ensure eligible girls aged nine to fourteen can access the vaccine.

NCDPHA Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Robin Oge, said the training is an important step towards protecting young girls from HPV infections that can lead to cervical cancer later in life.

He said the workshops will equip healthcare workers with the knowledge and skills needed to provide accurate information, build community confidence and support the successful implementation of the program.

NCDPHA will continue working with public and private health facilities, schools and communities ahead of the November rollout.

The authority has encouraged parents and guardians to seek information from their nearest health facility and support the vaccination initiative.
