Waste Management Responsibility Taken Back by Motu Koita Assembly

By Patricia Keamo – EMTV News, Port Moresby

Four months after their election, the Motu Koita Assembly has taken back the responsibility of waste management for Motu Koita villages from the National Capital District Commission.

Today ( February 28, 2019) the MKA launched their Waste Management Service at Pari village, a service that will benefit the Motu Koita villages.

The launching included a newly purchased backhoe loader and a tipper truck with GPS installed to monitor their movements.

MKA Chairman, Dadi Toka Jr says this function has been neglected for a while and people in Motu Koita Villages have rubbish piling up.

With the waste management service in place, it will now ensure a cleaner and healthier environment.

Witnessing the launch was Moresby MP South Justin Tkatchenko who urged the people of Pari Village as well as the other Motu Koita Villages to take up the responsibility in helping to clean their villages.

During the launching, Motu Koita Assembly Manager, Ps Michael Field announced that the Tipper Truck will be operated by a female driver.

The waste management service will start on Monday (March 4, 2019) with clean up commencing in Pari village, then to the other Motu Koita Villages.
