A young student leader at the Divine Word University has taken a big step in his educational career after attending the Young Leaders Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Bilu Kasanda, a second year PNG Studies student was among 30 other student leaders from various universities of Commonwealth nations who took part in the four day leadership summit.
Kasanda was the only PNG student at the event.
“It was a great learning experience,” Kasanda said.
The Conference was held over a period of 4 days, giving student leaders a practical means to promote respect, tolerance and understanding in their respective Universities around the World.
The summit was hosted by Heriott–Watt university Malaysia, a member institution of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
ACU is the world’s first international university network and remains as one of the most forward looking and uniquely diverse.
” It was a meeting of minds and mutual interests in promoting safer and respectable campus cultures to extend it when we start working,” Kasanda said.
Representing ACU member universities from over 20 Commonwealth countries, including Bangladesh, Canada, Kenya, Papua New Guinea, and Trinidad and Tobago the student leaders came together to develop their skills to work towards a shared goal of creating a fairer, more inclusive society, and cultivate innovative solutions to promote respect and understanding.
Representing PNG and the Pacific Student Ambassador Bilu Kasanda, had the priviledge to promote PNG and its unique cultural diversity to the rest of the world.
Kasanda now looks forward to implement knowledge he acquired at the summit to inspire the young generations of PNG to be more respectful, tolerance and have clear understanding to absorb intelligence.
