Post Moresby’s Capital Rugby Union is hoping to improve their competitive structure heading into the New Year.
President of CRU, Jacob Anga said that while the nation’s biggest rugby association had struggled throughout much of 2016, they were looking forward to bigger things in the new year.
Strengthening the code in the city and being more inclusive is one of the first goals that the Capital Rugby Board is hoping to achieve for the new year.
That approach, along with the inclusion of both a schools program, and youth initiatives are part of the planned approach for 2017.
President of Capital Rugby Union, Jacob Anga has said that despite the shortcomings this year, his board has used these trials as a learning curve to improve.
Part of that learning process has come about after considering the work already done in the city of Lae, with the SCRUM program. It is a concept that the CRU are hoping to adapt in the nation’s capital.
Anga also mentioned the impact of the newly elected PNGRFU board’s has had on their decision-making process. There were however setbacks; such as no regular competition throughout the year, and a delayed financial report.
With the new year fast approaching, there will still be questions regarding this much-needed information, with Anga giving assurance that a report would soon be presented to all relevant parties.
