2016 PIDF Summit Host Bid Open

By Samantha Semoso – EMTV Online

The bidding for next year’s Pacific Island Development Forum (PIDF) is now open to member countries, following an announcement by Fijian Prime Minister, Frank Bainimarama.

The announcement was made during the PIDF Executive Board Meeting on Tuesday.

Acting PIDF Secretary General, Amena Yauvoli, said the board meeting was a success and the group was on track with all of their plans for the future.

Yauvoli also said the meeting would end tomorrow with declaration of PIDF Charter that would formally establish PIDF as an international organisation.

They would also formulate the Suva Declaration on Climate Change, which would be a key message for the 2015 Paris Climate Change Conference – COP2. Pacific Island countries will be going as one voice to the conference for their stand on the issue.

Minister for Public Enterprises and Investment here in PNG, Ben Micah, has returned home to prepare for the Pacific Islands Forum next week.
