Chief Executive Officer of Popondetta General Hospital Dr. Gunzee Gawin has welcomed the ban on the sale of yeast in the province.
The ban was announced by the Governor Garry Juffa, as yeast is used to produce homebrew.
Dr Gawin says homebrew is responsible for most of the hospital’s casualty cases and hopes the ban will help.
He says homebrew affects the intellectual ability of a person because of its high methanol content.
