Prime Minister Marape Proposes National Reconciliation Ceremony with Bougainville

Papua New Guinea’s Prime Minister, Hon James Marape, says there must be a national reconciliation ceremony between the National Government and people of Autonomous Region of Bougainville. Prime Minister Marape said this when addressing the Joint Supervisory Body (JSB) meeting on Buka Island this morning. He said the National Government will support the wishes and aspirations of the ABG in determining their political future through the referendum.

Chief John Momis calls for Understanding from Leaders About the Plight of Bougainvilleans

Autonomous Bougainville Government President, Chief John Momis, addressed Members of the National Parliament today, in what could be his final address to national leaders before a referendum is held on Bougainville, Chief Momis called on national leaders to understand the issues on Bougainville, and to also commit to negotiating the outcome of the upcoming Referendum in a manner that will ensure lasting peace on Bougainville.
