Lahanis Upset Over Decisions Made

Bintangor Goroka Lahanis players and management are not happy about touch judges’ decisions in yesterday’s match against Lae SNAX Tigers in Lae.

Despite being defeated thirty-four points to eight, the Goroka franchise wants experienced and qualified referees and linesmen to run the game. They claimed that some of the referee’s decisions were a bit biased and one of his linesmen was a young kid who is not a qualified referee.

It was 24 nil at half time, with the Lae SNAX Tigers scoring four converted tries in the first half to lead the Goroka Lahanis.

A lighter Goroka outfit was unable to stop a rampaging Tigers forward pack in the first 10minutes of the second half. However, certain errors missed by the linesmen and referee made the Lahanis players nearly, ended the game with violence.

Lahanis supporters attacked one of the linesmen, who disallowed one of Lahanis tries on the far side of the field. That also forced the referee to stop the game and police personals had to settle the crowd before the game continued.

The game resumed later with dangerous play and punches exchanged during tackles. Pressures mounted from the supporting crowd which almost turned the game into a melee between touch judges, players and supporters.

Despite all the hiccups, Lahanis managed to score two unconverted tries to winger Spirro Mikaiwe. Tigers bravely went around the Lahanis defense to score two more tries to win the game 34 points to 8.
