Construct Oceanic Ltd to proceed with Tsak Valley Road project

By Bridgette Komatep – EM TV, Port Moresby

The National Court in Waigani today ordered a contractor to start removing heavy machinery at the Tsak Valley Project Site in Enga province.

Last week, Construct Oceanic Limited signed an MOU with the government to construct the much neglected Tsak Valley Road; however, it then discovered that another company had also been given the same project.

The matter was taken to court and this morning the decision was made in favour of Construct Oceanic Limited to fix the Tsak Valley Road.

Lawyer representing Construct Oceanic Limited, David Tambili was happy with the court’s decision as it was a contractual obligation with the State, it was important for the company to execute the project within the given time frame.

Last week, Construct Oceanic Limited was awarded the K20 million road project, making it the first time for the company to be awarded a contract through an NEC decision.

Secretary for the Department of Works, David Wereh, said his department will support the local company to deliver on time.

Managing Director of Construct Oceanic, Sape Molumi explained that construction works will proceed once the ‘possession of site’ is signed between all parties.
