The Australian Government through AusAID has funded a 75 Horsepower Motor Boat for Maiama Health Center in Morobe Patrol Post.

According to Huon Gulf District Administrator Andrew Namuesh the vessel will significantly improve healthcare access and emergency transportation services for coastal and island communities within Huon Gulf District, enabling health workers to reach remote populations more efficiently and respond to emergencies more effectively.

The Huon Gulf District Development Authority expressed its sincere appreciation to the Australian Government for its continued partnership and support in strengthening essential services and improving the lives of people living in rural and remote communities.

Following his commitment to building a better Huon Gulf, Member for Huon Gulf and Minister for Community Development, Youth and Religion, Jason Peter reaffirmed his commitment to investing in local leadership, healthcare, infrastructure, education, and community development initiatives that directly improve the lives of the people.

Peter emphasized that strong leadership at the ward and LLG levels, improved access to healthcare services, and strategic investments in district infrastructure are critical to achieving meaningful and sustainable development outcomes.

The funding through such partnership represents the ongoing efforts to strengthen governance, improve service delivery, secure vital assets for future generations, and build a stronger, more prosperous, and self-reliant district.

“Development is not only about infrastructure. It is about building strong institutions, empowering local leaders, improving services, and creating opportunities for our people.

“The district’s achievements demonstrate our commitment to delivering meaningful and lasting development throughout Huon Gulf District,” Peter said.
