WESTERN PACIFIC UNIVERSITY LAUNCHES DIGITAL LEARNING ECOSYSTEM FOR STUDENTS AND STAFF

The Western Pacific University has launched its AI-Enabled Digital Knowledge Hub and SmartX Digital Learning Tablets.
This reaffirms the University’s commitment to deliver innovative, inclusive, and technology driven higher education in Papua New Guinea.
President of Western Pacific University Professor Janet Bulumaris Rangou said the launch represented a significant step in the Institute’s vision of becoming a future focused university that equips graduate with the digital capabilities, innovation mindset, and critical thinking skills required to thrive in this technological era.
She said the LearnX initiative is an AI-powered digital learning ecosystem combing a Learning Management System, digital library, and student management platform into a single environment.
“It enables students and stafft to access online learning, digital library resources, resource database, assessment, academic support services, and personalized experiences anytime and anywhere,” Rangou said.
The SmartX Digital Learning Tablets complement the platform, providing oline access on campus and remotely.
Professor Rangou said the transformation will create opportunities for students and ensure equitable access to quality education.
“Only six years old, WPU is determined to become a leading center of innovation, research, and excellence that contribute meaningfully to the country’s development,” Rangou said.
Speaking during the launch, Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology Mr. Kinoka Feo said the digital transformation must expand access to quality education and prepare graduates for an increasing technology driven world.
“The future we seek is not one where technology replaced people but one that empowers people,” Feo said.
He commended Western Pacific University for translating the government’s vision for digital transformation into practical action and urged other institutions to pursue such initiative.
