University of Goroka has launched its first ever Post Graduate Journal. The creation of the UOG Journal was for academics and post graduate students at the university, to publish their research papers.
The launch of the Journal coincided with the opening of the University’s Post Graduate Centre.
The function of any university is to create knowledge, then disseminate the created knowledge, and store that knowledge.
However, storing the knowledge has been a difficult challenge faced by many higher learning institutions, including the University of Goroka.
Therefore, UOG initiated the Post Graduate Studies Centre as the platform for academics to store their research papers, findings, and other necessary academic information.
Dr Onagi said it would be wise to use research work conducted in PNG on education, health, and government service delivery, instead of using research conducted from other countries, and applying it to the PNG context.
Journals have been highly recommended by the world-over as stored information is useful to academics, and a university thrives on publications in journals as highlighted by the Director of PNG Institute of Medical Research PNGIMR Proffessor Peter Siba. He then launched the UOG Journal.
He commended the Staff at the University of Goroka, and encouraged the Post Graduate Students and Academics to start writing up their research papers and publish them in the journal.
