MADANG FC COACHES COMPLETE INTENSIVE TRAINING IN LAE

Coaches from Madang FC have successfully completed an intensive five-day football training program in Lae.

The program aimed at strengthening their coaching capacity and improving team performance.

The training, held from March 9 to 13, brought together three representatives from Madang FC two assistant coaches and the head coach, alongside six coaches from local clubs under the Madang Soccer Association.

The program focused on developing coaches’ competencies by equipping them with modern coaching knowledge and practical experience to better respond to the evolving demands of football. It also aimed to improve their ability to plan, prepare, conduct, and evaluate effective training sessions based on fundamental principles of the game.

Assistant coach Nigel Malagian described the training as a valuable experience that has enhanced both his knowledge and confidence.

“I think personally it really helps me to plan a training session and also understand the different types of training, as well as analyzing a game and team performance,” he said.

Malagian said the course also emphasized key areas such as understanding players, improving tactical knowledge of football, and developing the mindset required to coach effectively both in training and during matches.

“The training has really opened my mind. We learned how to design proper football programs, analyze both individual and team performance, and adjust training to suit the needs of players,” he said.

The course further highlighted the importance of maintaining safe, ethical, and supportive relationships with players while creating a structured and positive training environment.

Participants who completed the program are expected to receive their OFC C-License coaching certificates in September.

“We will be receiving our OFC C-License coaching certificate in September,” Malagian confirmed.

He added that the knowledge gained has prepared him to apply new techniques with players in Madang.

“After the training, I’m feeling ready to impart what we’ve learnt to the players in order to create better understanding of the game mentally and physically,” he said.

Malagian also called on the people of Madang to support the team as they continue to grow.

“Let’s unite and support our boys,” he urged.

The training marks an important step forward for football development in Madang, as local coaches continue to build their capacity and contribute to raising the standard of the game in the province.
