GOLFERS UNITE TO IMPROVE HEALTH SERVICES
The 2026 Mining Resource Week Charity Golf challenge teed off today at Royal Port Moresby Golf Course, aiming to assist hospitals in the country.
Last year’s event raised over K300, 000 for the Mt Hagen Provincial Specialist Hospital. Every stroke played today is an effort towards assisting health services in areas of need.
All funds raised for this year’s event will go towards Madang provincial hospital. This year’s principal sponsor is the K92 Mining Limited with other minor sponsors backing the event to address the struggling health sector in PNG.
The 18th hole event brought together teams representing majority of mining industries operating in the country including other organisations and individuals standing together to better health services in the country.
The event planned to start at 8:30am, teed off at 11am over a dry Port Moresby golf course. Despite the late start the golfers enjoyed a cloudy weather accompanied by the usual Port Moresby wind.
The event is part of the PNG Resources Week event underway in Port Moresby’s Apec Haus.
The charity golf event is currently underway with an expectation for teams to join in before the tournament ends with a presentation to the winners at 5:30 pm.
