AMOS JUNIOR PASSES ON

The Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League (PNGRFL), together with the PNG National Rugby League Competition (PNGNRLC) and Kimbe Cutters Franchise, have expressed their heartfelt condolences following the passing of Ray Amos Jnr yesterday morning at Port Moresby General Hospital.
Amos was injured during a match earlier this season and had been receiving continuous medical care since. Despite the efforts of doctors and medical staff to stabilize his condition, he sadly passed away.
PNGNRLC Chairman Adrian Chow extended his condolences to the Amos family, the Kimbe Cutters team and the wider rugby league community.
“We are very saddened by the news of Ray’s passing. On behalf of PNGRFL, PNGNRLC, and the whole rugby league family, I extend our sincere condolences to his family, the Kimbe Cutters Franchise, all his teammates, friends, and relatives,” said Chow.
Throughout his time in hospital, support was provided to the family. In a show of solidarity, round 18 of the competition was dedicated as “Round for Ray” to raise awareness of player welfare. The initiative received strong backing from fans and the wider community, raising significant funds for his care and recovery.
Chow also acknowledged the efforts of Dr. Ravu, the on-field medical team, and staff at Port Moresby General Hospital for their professional care under difficult circumstances.
PNGRFL and PNGNRLC will continue working closely with Amos family to assist with necessary arrangements.
The family has requested privacy as they mourn the loss of their beloved son and teammate.
