BUSINESS HOUSES, COMPANIES AND PARTNERS WERE ACKNOWLEDGED FOR SUPPLYING RELIEF TO MULITAKA

The people of Mulitaka in Enga province has been greatly affected by the natural disaster that hit them on May 24th, which claimed lives and damaged properties ,leaving them homeless.

According to National Disaster Centre, more than 600 people lost their lives while more than 700 were displaced.

This sad news has shocked the country and the world to provide relief assistance as soon as possible while search and rescue efforts are ongoing.

Prime Minister James Marape visited the affected area on May 31st, expressed his sorrow to the people who lost their love ones.

On behalf of the affected people he acknowledged the business houses, companies and partners for their quick response in providing relief supplies.

The government has approved K20 million to address the disaster needs while ICTSI provides K1 million support, Newmont provide K1 million, Hela and Southern Highlands provincial governments contributed K1 million each. Other business houses and partners also contributed in cash and kind for this worthy course.

Prime Minister Marape assured the people of Maip-Mulitaka that the national government would work with the Enga Provincial Government in continuing relief and restoration work.
