Acting Managing Director of the Kumul Telikom Holdings Limited (KTHL) Jessie Wangua has clarified misunderstandings within the staff and management of FM 100 in regard to threats made against employees who were tested positive to the coronavirus.
“On behalf of the Board and Management of KTHL, I would like to inform the general public and address this to all my valuable staff of Kalang Advertising Limited on the agreed ways forward in addressing health concerns raised by staff of Kalang Advertising Limited, in regards to the COVID-19 reported cases at their place of work.”
Wangua said he had personally met and discussed with the board and management of KAL yesterday and the board is fully aware of and abreast to the current situation.
He said the 20 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported at the KAL office and had all undergone immediate isolation and persons of interest (POI) are currently being identified through contact tracing methods.
Wangua assured the employees and the general public that the following measures have been immediately undertaken to address and minimize the risk of exposure to the employee’s health and welfare;
- In line with the above there will be no staff replacements, loss or disciplinary actions you be taken against any staff of Kalang Advertising Limited who have sighted and signed the petition.
- Full sanitation and fumigation exercises shall commence by this week starting Wednesday April 14 and it is mandatory that all operations shall shut down for 24 hours resuming the next day
- No staff have suffered or shall suffer any salary cuts whether found to be tested positive for COVID-19 or being identified as a person of interest through contact tracing and being isolated for an expected period.
- In line with the above there will be no staff replacements, loss or disciplinary actions you be taken against any staff of Kalang Advertising Limited who have sighted and signed the petition.
Wangua also stated that the employees petition presented to the board was a form of cry or plea for help when all other options were exhausted and acknowledged the staff for raising these concerns but urged the staff and management to find common ground and follow proper channels when dealing with issues affecting them.
