Family Pleas to Repatriate Body back to PNG

The family of a deceased young man who was sent abroad to study Accounting at the Liaoning University of Technology in China last year and unknowingly passed is appealing to the Department of Foreign Affairs to assist in repatriating his body back to PNG for a proper burial.

Tyson Kulara from Pogera in Enga Province was reportedly pronounced dead in a state prison in China on the 27th of January, 2019.

Late Tyson Kulara was reported to have had a cardiac arrest passing away in a state prison in China on the 27th January, 2019.

The family was made aware of his passing on the 5th of February 2019, nine days after his passing.

The grieving family expressed disappointment as to why it took so long for the PNG embassy to relay the message and after much dissatisfaction with the Foreign Affairs Department; the family members flew into Port Moresby to deal with the issue at hand.

Spokesperson and relative of the deceased, Opis Papo said the family presented their concerns to the Foreign Affairs Department so as to seek assistance and clarifications to talk with the Chinese Embassy and Government to have the deceased repatriated to his country of origin but to no avail.

Two weeks have gone past and the family is still awaiting a formal response from Foreign Affairs to brief them on the repatriation exercise let alone direction as to which course to take next to assist them bring the body of their late son home.

The family wants nothing more than a formal response with regards to information and what direction to take to have the body flown back.

They have also heeded advice to prepare their passports to fly to China and bring back the deceased.

An appeal has also been made to friends and relatives to assist with any reliable information and financial backing to bring the Late Tyson back to PNG for his family to pay their last respects.
