Senior Officials from APEC Member countries have visited Goroka town as a conclusion to the Senior Officials Meeting 1 (SOM1) in Port Moresby.
The visit was aimed to give delegates an insight into how the coffee sector contributes to the PNG economy.
It involved coffee tasting and the delegates were witnesses to a number of traditional singings from the Highlands Region.
The delegates arrived in Goroka and were greeted with the famous Asaro Mud Man.
Eastern Highlands Governor, Peter Nunu, and Goroka MP, Henry Ame were at the airport to receive the delegates, who were escorted by Minister responsible for APEC, Justin Tkatchenko.
Similar to the first visit last Tuesday, the Senior Officials made the first visit to the Bilati Coffee Plantation. At the plantation, they were given a brief history of how significant the coffee industry is in Eastern Highlands.
The delegates then visited New Guinea Highlands Coffee, where coffee beans are prepared for international exports.
At the Goroka Roasters, the delegates were given an insight into how coffee is processed for consummation and allowed to test the different coffee flavours.
The visit ended with a showcase of different produces and products that contribute to the economy of Eastern Highlands.
The SOM1 Meetings ended on Friday 9th March after two weeks of minor meetings in Port Moresby.
