ISOAIMO CALLS FOR INVESTIGATION INTO THE DEATH OF A BETLENUT TRADER AT HANUABADA

Kairuku MP and Minister for Energy Peter Isoaimo has strongly demanded a police investigation on the death of a local from Mekeo who was brutally beaten to death by police reservist from Hanuabada in Moresby North West yesterday.
” The youth beaten to death is my nephew namely Ata Ofoi in his late 20s from Inauaia village. I send my condolence to my family and demand police investigation doa thorough investigation and have the police reservist personnel involved arrested, trialled prisoned for the crime committed.”
He revealed this in a statement while attending the APEC Energy Ministers conference in China.
“That is murder and condemned barbaric act of killing in the strongest possible term.”
“When I return, I will convene an urgent Kairuku DDA meeting to consider options to weather or not allow my people of Mekeo to continue betelnut trade in Port Moresby,” he said.
He said to look at alternative locations like Laloki to set up betelnut market for the locals to trade their products within Central province.
