The two-day event starts today at APEC Haus, with delegates from across the Pacific region in attendance.
This is the fourth edition, with the theme, “Servant Leadership: Building a Legacy Through Service.”
The event will feature speakers from across the region, cultural performances, and stalls displaying crafts throughout the duration of the event.
The first day of the event highlights the value of working together, “Wok Wantaim Lewa Bilong Yu,” PNG.
This features the ethic of servant leadership, where discussions were held to strengthen private and public partnerships to deliver services.
Servant leadership speaker Martha Sommy, who works in the National Capital District Commission Human Resources Division, said the reality of leadership is the people who challenge you.
“I am not going to be here forever. Leadership as a service,” Sommy said.
“Leadership is about people. Leadership is what you do with the responsibility you have been given.
“Servant leadership does not mean being soft. Sometimes we have to make decisions that people would not like. Serving people doesn’t mean pleasing people. You have to uphold the standards of an organization. Good leadership is to be able to be firm, fair, and human at the same time.”
