PNG Body Building Federation appeals for support from business houses and government to boost the sport of Body Building in PNG as it builds its capacity and presence across the country in search of talents.
PNGBBF Vice President Jacob Kom said, 2017 PNG Games has helped PNGBBF to identify young talents and has increased the presence of Body Building across PNG. “And now I have my number of associations gone up, the number of athletes as well and Its a big job for us the PNG Body Building Federation in terms of financing and managing the affairs of the Federation.”
Kom calls on the business houses and government to help PNGBB develop the sport of Body Building in PNG.
Unlike other sporting codes, we have huge task in developing this sport in the country and I want the government, business houses and individuals to help us to build this sporting code in terms of identifying and training the athletes and when we run for sponsorship, please help us to continue grow this sport.”
Kom whilst encouraging provincial sports team who do not have bodybuilding to take up the sport, said bodybuild, though is not recognised by many, brings in more medals to the team easily and can affect a team’s ranking in the overall competition.
PNG Body Building ended its journey in the 2017 PNG Games yesterday (23 November, 2017) with precedence after presenting a completed official report on the same day after the medal presentation.
Before leaving, the PNG Body Building Federation thanks Kimbe for the hospitality.
“The Host Organising Committee, PNG Sports Federation, PNG Defense Force, Governor Sasindran Muthuvel, East New Britain people, and John Susuve and others who facilitated for the successful completion of the sporting code of Body Building.” Kom told EMTV Online.
Meanwhile, head of 2017 PNG Games Sports Directorate Mr John Susuve appreciated the professional approach shown by PNGBBF in presenting a report soon after completing participation in the Games. He thanked the PNGBBF officials for their promptness in delivering a vital document to the Directorate.
“This is a benchmark set by PNGBBF in 2017 BSP PNG Games and all other sporting codes must do the same.” Susuve said. Susuve strongly oppose the tendency of sending in reports 2 to 3 months after a game and urged all sporting codes to follow PNGBBF’s legacy.
