Refugees accommodated at Boroko’s Aku Lodge in Port Moresby, are opposing an eviction notice served to them by the PNG Immigration and Citizenship Service Authority.
The refugees told EMTV News, conditions of their accommodation were not specified, describing it as inhumane.
They say their wish is not to be settled in PNG, and their safety is not guaranteed. They say the eviction notice served to them is irrelevant, and they do not wish to be relocated.
Most told EMTV News they have been attacked after being forced to another area. They say they have suffered for more than 4 years in Manus, with some of them committing suicide.
On 19th September 2017, PNG Immigration and Citizenship Service Authority served them a letter to leave Aku Lodge and be relocated to Morata. They feel their lives are in danger. According to PNG Immigration Officers, they have been pressured to make sure the welfare of the refugees are adequately met, however the refugees do not see that coming.
The 18 have signed a petition which they will be presenting to the PNG Immigration Authority and the Australian Border Force.
The refugees believe the relocation is a crooked deal by State Agents.
