The Conservation Environment Protection Authority or CEPA, will implement a conservation project to protect Papua New Guinea’s marine ecosystems.
The project is called PNG Global Environment Facility, International Waters, Ridge to Reef.
It will focus on addressing marine biodiversity issues caused by human actions at the Bootless Bay area in Port Moresby.
The project is funded by the Global Environment Facility.
Its objective is to implement the Ridge to Reef or R2R climate resilient approaches to integrated land, water, forest and coastal management in Pacific Island Countries.
Secretariat of the Pacific Community, together with the United Nation Development Program are the implementing agencies for the global facility in 14 targeted countries in the Pacific.
CEPA, works in partnership with the NFA, PNG Ports, UPNG, Coastal Fisheries Development Authority, Seventh Day Adventist agencies and representatives from Tubusereia, Taurama, Pari and Gereka village.
This project aligns with the United Nation’s Biodiversity Targets by 2020 and in line with the PNG’s policy on Protected Areas.
