Students of Kopkop College today paid a visit to Port Moresby Nature Park.
Grade three teacher Virginia Kunnopi says the visit is for students to get first-hand information in knowing the diversity of PNG’s natural habitats.
Kunnopi says the excursion not only aims to improve students’ knowledge of animals, but how one can help conserve the environment.
According to studies, the vast developing agendas of the country are having an impact on the flora and fauna of PNG.
The diminishing environment is a disadvantage for PNG’s next generation who live in cities, but for these Grade 3 students the excursion is a feel of what nature can provide for people.
Under its Environment studies subject, the class was thrilled to be a step closer to some of PNG’s unique wildlife.
Over 30 students took part in the excursion this morning, something which has been an ongoing program for the Nature Park with schools around the city.
