Vote for land, says Motu-Koitabu candidate

A Moresby North East Candidate has promised voters to give them land to settle on.

Joe Saraga, is a Motu-Koitabu landowner, running for elections in the Moresby North East electorate.

Elections in Papua New Guinea see alot of money, store goods, pigs and promises being made.

Yesterday, two groups from Chuave in the Chimbu Province brought pigs for Joe Saraga.

In PNG, the gesture is a sign of alliance being built however the act must be reciprocated by an action of equal or greater value.

Joe Saraga is contesting the Moresby North East seat against Sitting MP, Labi Amaiu, and 41 others.

The Motu-Koitabu land owner has immense support from the Hela community and communities from parts of the Chimbu Province.

In Port Moresby electorates, there are huge factions of people split giving support to different candidates.

Yesterday, Joe Saraga was shown support but the real test of loyalty will come in the polling booth when fingers meet paper to vote.
