USA focused on next match

Though the United States of America lost 2-1 in the semi-finals to a resilient Korea DPR team, Coach Michelle French remains focused on their next match. They are set to face Japan on Saturday, 3 November, in the third place play-off at the National Football Stadium in Port Moresby.

USA coach, Michelle French, reflecting on the match against Korea DPR, said her team did well in the first 90 minutes of the match.

She says despite the loss she couldn’t be more proud of her team’s effort, playing against a strong team.

She said of the 4pm matches played, this was one of the toughest, as fatigue started to kick in during extra time.

The Korea DPR Coach, Hwang Yongbong, reflects that prior to coming to Papua New Guinea for the World Cup, his team had prepared well with only one goal, and that was to make it to the Final.

Yongbong added, gaining experience from the previous world cup in Canada has helped him prepare his team for this World Cup.
