UPNG Provincial Day Receives Support

Giwaka and New Ireland Province, along with Solomon Islands, today received cheques from Governor Powes Parkop.

These cheques were presented to help support UPNG students from other provinces fund their Provincial Day celebrations.

Joining our two provinces was the Solomon Islands.

Two provinces in the country, along with our Solomon Islands neighbors, each received cheques of K10, 000 to help contribute raising funds for their Provincial Days.

Student officials and presidents from Giwaka and New Ireland, along with Solomon Islands representatives, received the cheque from Governor Powes Parkop.

Mr. Parkop says the presence of other provincial students in the nation’s capital must be respected.

He said students from outside the nation’s capital must be welcomed and made a part of our community so that we can all stand together and regard our city, NCD, as ours.

The money will help UNPG students with their Provincial Day celebrations here in the nation’s capital with friends and families.

The Student President of New Ireland Province spoke on behalf of his fellow students and thanked Mr. Parkop for his contribution.

New Ireland Provincial Day will fall on the 23rd of this month, taking place at Murray Barracks.
