Timothy Masiu Nominated Under National Alliance in Buin

The little town of Buin, in South Bougainville, came to a halt today when supporters for the sitting member for South Bougainville, Timothy Masiu, came in numbers with a convoy of vehicles.

Supporters were holding placards and chanting while vehicles were decorated with banners.

They came from as far as Bana, Nagovis, Siwai and Torokina, which are the main districts in South Bougainville, to support and show their solidarity towards the sitting member.

Masiu was the second last to nominate before the close of nominations yesterday.

He is also the fourth candidate to be nominated under the National Alliance Party.

His nomination was accepted by the Returning Officer for South Bougainville, John Itanu, who declared Masiu as a duly candidate.

After the nominations, Masiu reminded voters of their democratic rights to ensure a fair, free and safe election.

“The decision and choice belongs to you as the voters,” he said.

Meanwhile, supporters speaking off camera told EMTV News in Buin, that since Masiu took office as the South Bougainville MP, after his By-Election victory last year, he has delivered within the a short span of time, eight months.
