Telikom Outage Affects Customers

Hundreds of customers nationwide were affected by Telikom PNG’s Internet Outage.

Services that were affected today as a result of the internet outage included Mobile Banking, normal withdrawals or purchases using the EFTPOS.

This has frustrated a lot of customers nationwide.

“My mobile service is down,” said a customer.

The internet outage lasted for over 15 hours and has affected internet services for mobile users also.

” We tried atleast several ATMs around the city and the results have unsuccessful,” said an ATM user.

The most affected were Banks.

ANZ Country Managing Director Mark Baker said ANZ Bank relies on Telikom PNG’s international link to conduct its business.

” We would like to conduct reliable banking services.”

And since the outage last night, the bank has been in constant dialogue with Telikom to ensure the services are restored.

Since 2pm this afternoon, the services were restored and customers were able to withdraw money from the ATMs or use the EFTPOS machine.

Meanwhile Telikom PNG has released a statement saying its engineers are working at the Boroko and Ela Beach Exchange to ensure the services are restored.
