Team Milne Bay ‘not worried’

By Lorraine Genia – EM TV, Lae

Team Milne Bay have been forced out of their preferred accommodation, UNITECH, and are now residing at the Telikom College in Lae.

While this is a major disruption to the team’s settlement, and readiness for day one of competition tomorrow, Milne Bay soccer coach George Bukoya is not worried.

The Milne Bay soccer team were the underdogs in the 2012 PNG Games in Kokopo, and stunned provinces with their gold medal performance, but since then the standards have dropped.

This time around, coach Bukoya believes the 6th BSP PNG Games will be the perfect avenue for team Milne Bay to uplift their image, and improve their current status of soccer, provincially.

Whilst they declare team Morobe and Manus as their toughest competition on field, Bukoya collectively said, “the team has had two months of preparations, and this should not be an excuse for a poor performance.”

Soccer commences tomorrow at the Lae Football Association Grounds, with the finals expected to rollout on the 29th of November.
