Team Central readies to depart for PNG Games


The Team Central swimmers are all set to join their teammates at the 6th BSP PNG Games in Lae.

The team will be the last group of athletes from Team Central to touchdown in the host province on Wednesday. 

The swimming events will be held over three days over three days, beginning on Friday. Team Central will be the last group of contingent to leave for Lae this week. The group of swimmers and their coach were supposed to leave today for Lae but their flight was rescheduled for this Wednesday.

Team Central will be represented by 14 swimmers comprising of six boys and five girls.

Team Coach Wilua Puana said he is looking forward to his team’s participation in the 6th BSP PNG Games and has no doubts that Team Central swimmers will pocket more medals.

The swimmers will participate in three different categories, from seniors to intermediate and juniors. Mr Puana also gave encouragement to other provinces to participate in swimming as it also represents PNG at the international level.

Upon their arrival in Lae on Wednesday, the swimmers will go straight into training before their competitions starts on Friday, finishing off on Sunday.
