Sterritslev Optimistic

Papua New Guinea’s National Coach Flemming Serritslev, said that while it is mission impossible against the Solomon Islands in their FIFA World Cup qualifier, the team has the belief to win.

Speaking at the squad’s training session over the weekend, the 70-year-old Dane believes his side will raise their game against Solomon Islands.

Losing by 3 goals to 2 against the Solomon Islands on Friday last week has placed Papua New Guinea in a precarious position.

The side now has to win and win big in order to still have a fighting chance in their qualifying campaign.

When asked whether there was still belief in the team in getting the job done, Serritslev, ever optimistic.

For Papua New Guinea, the return of striker Nigel Dabinyaba, who missed out last Friday due to suspension, is an added boost for the host nation.

PNG faces a mammoth task; they need to beat Solomon Islands by 6 goals to nil, against a talented SI squad, who were at their best last week.

And with a bumper crowd expected at the PNG Football stadium on Tuesday afternoon for the match, the pressure will be immense for Papua New Guinea.

The game will kick off at 5pm, with the televised replay on EMTV at 8pm on Tuesday night.
